R.I. Gen. Laws § 12-3-8
§ 12-3-8. Venue of larceny prosecutions.
Larceny, whether at common law, or as defined by §§ 11-41-1 â 11-41-4, 11-41-6, and 11-41-11, may be prosecuted and proceeded against in the superior court at any location that may by order be designated by the presiding justice or in any division of the district court in which the offense was committed, or in which the defendant has possession of the money or property which is alleged to have been stolen, or in which the false pretense was made or used or in any division that may be ordered by the chief judge pursuant to § 12-3-4(c).
