§ 25-2-31. Workersâ Memorial Day.
The fourth Friday of April shall annually be set aside to be known as âWorkersâ Memorial Dayâ and the governor shall issue an annual proclamation inviting and urging the people of the state to observe this day in suitable places with appropriate ceremonies. Workersâ Memorial Day shall be in remembrance of the courage and integrity of American workers and in particular be in remembrance of those workers who have been killed or injured in the course of their employment. Additionally, this observance will call to the attention of the people of our state the importance of workplaces that are healthy and safe for the prevention of workplace illness and injury.
